Sue Jurd

Through my paintings I try to capture the feeling of the Australian landscape. I am influenced by my surroundings – the bush- with it’s colour, smell and beautiful designs. I have been painting silk for over twenty years, but have used many mediums. I am basically self taught, having attended workshops by well known artists Sir Douglas Dundas and Jean Isherwood, and a couple of week long live-in schools tutored by Roy Churcher, Helen Sanderson and Adele Outteridge. Ruth Francis, a Brisbane based artist, taught me silk painting. I have since played with many methods and have developed, what I consider, a unique style. My husband and I live on a cattle property, at Jennings, which is on the NSW/Qld border, on the New England Highway.
